Today was my second day at RA Padayachee. I met with the principal before school got out and we talked about a few different opportunities of interacting with the kids. The school has no one to teach kids regarding computers, and the computers that they have in the “library” have not been used in almost two years. The community connection donated the computers two years ago for the students to work with, but there was no initiative by teachers to keep the program going once the church left. So, since then the computers have literally been sitting underneath blankets and cloths with nobody using them. Today, before soccer started, I went into the room with the computers and tried getting some of them going. They have six working computers right now and they told me that they would let me know if I would be teaching class next week on using a computer.
I got to work with a group of 4th and 6th grade students today after school. We ran a little bit together and then played some soccer. The kids are always excited about being able to play. Friday I should be able to go again and work on getting to know the kids better, and then within the next I would love to start introducing the Gospel into the sport camps. I’m trying to get a feel yet on the background of the kids, to understand the best way to approach this ministry.
